Course
History
Eagle Crest opened as a 9-hole course in 1994 and was so named because
many eagles spend their winters there. This Par 71/72 layout offers 5957
yards of scenic beauty for a relaxed 18 holes of challenging golf. With
panoramic views of both the north and south mountains along with a variety
of wild animals and birds, it will not soon be forgotten. The course was
designed and built by Osbourne & Garnet Ward and is owned by
the same.
The front nine was built on the original farm property as an added income
for the farm business. Due to being on farm property, buying a side of
pork or a bag of grass seed to gain golfing privileges was the norm that
first year. After rezoning, the course moved to normal golf operations
for the start of the 1995 season.
In
1999 the back nine was opened on the former property of the Lieutenant
Governor of Nova Scotia, Dr. Clarence Goss. It is well suited to compliment
the original nine holes with its many contours, ponds and mixture of pine,
maple and hemlock trees.
Eagle Crest has been constantly making improvements and upgrades. Late
in 2001, a completely new green location was opened for
Hole
#2. Early in 2002 a new par 3 hole opened as
Hole
#3, and a new back tee was put in play
Hole
#4.
In the fall of 2003, a new #1, Par3
and a new #18, Par5
were constructed which
we plan to open upon the completion of a new clubhouse
